Car Denting & Painting: What the Process Actually Involves
Denting and painting looks simple from the outside — a dent goes in, paint comes out looking new. In reality, a proper job is a multi-stage process, and skipping steps is exactly what causes paint to peel or colour to look slightly off six months later. Here’s what actually happens when you bring your car in for car denting and painting in Sharjah.
1. Damage assessment
We start by inspecting the full extent of the damage, not just what’s visible. A dent can hide stretched metal or damage to the panel underneath that isn’t obvious until the surface is prepped. This step decides whether the panel can be repaired or needs replacing.
2. Panel beating and metal shaping
For dented panels, we work the metal back toward its original shape using hammers, dollies, and pulling equipment. The goal is to restore the panel’s structure as closely as possible before any filler is used, since filler should correct small imperfections, not replace proper shaping.
3. Filling and sanding
Any remaining low spots are filled with body filler, then sanded down in stages until the surface is smooth and level with the surrounding panel. This step is where a rushed job shows later — poor sanding leaves waves in the paint that catch the light.
4. Priming
A primer coat seals the repaired area and gives the paint something consistent to bond to. It also helps us spot any remaining imperfections before colour goes on, when they’re still easy to fix.
5. Colour matching and paint application
This is the step most people worry about. Factory paint codes get you close, but UAE sun fades paint unevenly over time, so an experienced painter adjusts the mix by eye against your car’s actual current colour, not just the code on the sticker. Paint is applied in multiple thin coats rather than one heavy one, which gives a more even, durable finish.
6. Clear coat and blending
A clear coat protects the colour and gives it depth and gloss. On repairs next to original panels, we blend the edge into the neighbouring panel so there’s no visible line where old and new paint meet.
7. Curing, polishing, and final inspection
The paint needs time to cure before polishing. Once cured, we polish and inspect it in direct light to check the finish and colour match before handing the car back.
